Sorry if this has already been discussed.
Seen a player that was not a slapper but was using a slapper bat and was hitting with it really well. A coach said to the player that if she used a different bat, ( end loaded or a balanced ) that some her hits would have went farther.
Looking to get any feedback to coaches and players opinion on this topic.
Thanks

My understanding is a "slapper" bat, has a longer barrel length (barrel extends down closer to hands) which gives larger surface area to work with, and the weight is shifted towards the hands, which is supposed to give more bat control.

End Loaded, weight is shifted to end.

Balanced, is just that, balanced weight, but with normal barrel length.

In theory, yes, she would hit ball longest with end loaded, and slightly longer with balanced.

Maybe. Maybe not. Yes, a player may hit a ball farther with a balanced or end-loaded bat vs. a Slapper, but not necessarily. If the player makes the most consistent squared-up contact with the Slapper, as a coach, that's the bat I want in her hands.

90% of players should be using a -10 bat. A handful of really fast slappers can use a -11 or -12, and some power hitters can use -9 or -8.
