Vdubya,
Not offended at all. Just looking for some feedback to address my DD's timing issue. My OP didn't include as much detail as needed. DD has been asking me to ask on DFP about this and kept forgetting so started a quick thread after I got home from work.

Like I was trying to explain above she struggles more timing slower pitchers. Mid range and fast pitchers she finds it easier to track ball, let it get to the contact point for solid hit. "The crush the slow pitcher" comment we have talked about that in the past. Honestly, she does hit home runs but she's been pretty humble about that and really tries to focus on her hitting mechanics and good things usually happen, such as hitting home runs. For whatever reason she is not disinclined enough I guess to wait for ball to get into the zone. Like I also mentioned above, she makes contact but not the best hits and ends up pulling the ball if it's an outside pitch.

When we practice it's all about hitting different pitches in the zone and always mix up speed and location when doing front toss. Looking for other drills, philosophies, YouTube links, etc on ways to track/time pitch to get into zone.

Just curious have you ever compared video of her facing slow pitching to when she is facing better pitching? You said that you guys work on tracking the ball all the way into the mitt..... when working on this tracking is she trying to focus directly on the ball itself?

DD in high school and is a solid hitter but this slower pitching always has her stumped. Any suggestions on drills to work on letting the ball get deeper to the contact point instead of way out front? Faster pitching does much better. Here are some things we've been working on over the winter:

1) front toss, varying speeds and locations
2) tracking ball to catcher
3) tee work for different pitches
4) reviewing videos from her high school winter ball

When dealing with ultra slow pitching ... something that you can't quickly adapt to ... the solution is as simple as replacing "yes, yes, no / yes, yes, go" with "no, no, yes / no, no, no".

The mentality of a hitter facing ultra slow pitching is ... "no it is not a strike, no it is not a strike, holly crap, it is a strike".

You wish to continue being in a reactionary state ... "no, no, no/yes".

How much slower are we talking about here? 10 mph, 15 mph? Major leaguers regularly deal with 10 or so mph differences e.g. one pitcher who throwing fastballs in high 90's vs. the next game the pitcher throwing
the same pitches in the high 80's, low 90's. While I realize your girl is not a major leaguer, it might be beneficial to study elite hitters and how they adjust to this difference from game to game. Try to get footage
which has both pitcher and hitter in view, for two such games (pitchers with 10mph difference or so on fastballs) and look at the differences in their approaches. It might be hard to tell at first the differences but I would guess after
some studying you could see what they are doing differently in both cases. Just some (possibly lousy) advice from a non-expert...take it for its worth :p

Yes we work on tracking ball from release to catcher's mitt.

Will try this out thanks.

I don't think I have any videos of this but will take a look. Thanks
