9 YO DD (4'7" 72 lbs) did a ball exit speed test after hitting lesson tonight with a BallCoach radar. She hit 47-48mph consistently WHEN she hit line drives.

Question- I have NO idea how this compares? Good? Bad? Shouldn't be worried about it at this age? It surely doesn't do any good if you can't take it to the field!

I really only did it to get a baseline as she is really working hard on getting her lower half really firing. She really wants to do the USA Elite tryout but thanks to the DFP group I think I am going to talk her out of it. Seems like a whole lot of cash for "the experience".

Appreciate thoughts and feedback.

EDIT: The links work. Just take the "s" out of the https part of the link. BTW, I'm taking my DD to the tryouts. Her teammates mom talked me into it. She said her friends kid made it last year, had a ball and are doing it again. Different strokes for different folks.

When DD was 9 last year we did the USA Elite Select tryout. I had to go look again to get her number, which was 59 all 3 swings.

Thanks for the feedback. Now she knows roughly what the target should be. I would say there is power in her legs she hasn't found so this will give her some motivation.

How are you getting the exit speed and how does USA Elite get the exit speeds? Are they taken off of a tee, or is done with front toss?

At 13-14 I would start to worry about it. At 9, I would focus on making sure she learns good hitting mechanics and forget about these numbers.
