Ordered a 33" -3 Easton bamboo composite for Maddie.
Eric, imho, you'll be glad that you did. I taped the handle of BB's because it was a little slick. I taped the sweet spot also but you don't have to do that now. I'd wait until she swings it some before even considering that.

We had open cage tonight. Man, we had a lot of girls there. Anyway, we had a bunch of young ladies who asked to borrow my wood bat for the week. I'd say at least 5.

Did you go with composite for the durability or was it just better balanced?

Initially for the durability. What I found out is that this bat has held up so well, it almost looks new and believe me, it is not.

Maddie's first session with the 33" Easton bamboo composite tonight (front toss in a cage). The weight definitely slowed her quickness down, but it was a good exercise, with the focus on not letting her hands get pulled off path by the extra centrifugal forces in play, and powering the swing with her body. After 2 buckets with wood, she absolutely hammered the next 2 buckets with her CF8. We will definitely be working in more wood bat sessions going forward.

I am so glad you liked the initial workout. I did not bring my wood bat to open cage tonight and the girls were upset. It has become a vital part of what they want to do.

I like working with a heavier bat, think it helps to really understand how and where power is generated. Based on the last AB you posted of M, I'm thinking that Once she learns to get better separation, the ball will be climbing rather than falling at the OF fence. Not too bad for a U12 ;)

This wasn't her first time with a wood bat. We have a 31/28 she has used in the past. The new 33/30 wood bat is just a size upgrade to match the length of her game bat.
