So, as the thread states, my younger DD, who is actually pretty athletic in many ways, has zero natural ability to swing a bat in that she just swings all arms and wraps the bat around her body. So I started out working with her by showing her a decent body position at contact. Just to show her what she needs to get to, without much other instruction. As I did this, i thought to myself, does it make sense to teach the swing in reverse order in the very beginning? Or is this a horrible idea? I just have no idea where to begin to start to mold a swing in a young lady that is nowhere near the mark by just swinging away and seeing where that takes her.

I like the reverse approach. Start at contact and work your way back...can help with some who can't figure out how to overcome ingrained habits.

I use the concept quite effectively with pitching....just didn't know if there is any benefit to using it with hitting. It makes sense in my mind....just wanted to see if it's something anyone else has attempted/succeeded with.
