I'm looking for ideas on how to correct a couple issues my daughter has in her swing. I don't have a video but I think I can describe the issue I'm seeing. This is what she looks like on her finish. )

She turns into a backward c. Hand are finishing super high. The swing looks decent till right before contact. At that point she starts to straighten her back leg and arches back to form the backwards c. The other issue she has is her lead elbow. She likes to keep this elbow tucked in and roll on contact.

I feel like the front elbow is causing a majority of the problems. How would you guys attack this front elbow issue? This is the issue I would like to fix next, but I'm open to ideas on the other issues. I have a feeling once this is corrected the other issues won't be as bad.

If needed I can get a video.

Thanks in advance for the help.

A while back I seen a thread with a pvc contraption that fit between the players elbows. Anyone remember seeing this thread?

Not here.
Translation: the device in question likely will not solve your DD's swing issue(s), which are impossible to assess without video

So Cal
Video would definitely be helpful.

As for the tucked front elbow, I have run into this many times with young hitters. Getting them to work the elbow up, away from the torso, above the hands can sometimes be learned quickly, or sometimes be a real challenge.

The little one will be home soon. I'm going to do my best to get some video up tonight. I have never posted video online but my son says he can help me. I will have video in 90 minutes. I will try to have it posted by 4 - 4:15.

I often study these threads and value the information given. I look forward to the opinions. I'm so excited to hear what you guys think. I know better then posting with no video. I couldn't help myself.

Rdbass, I agree on teaching the whole swing. My feeling is once the elbow issue is corrected some of the other issues I'm seeing will also be corrected. I'm smart enough to know I don't know everything. You guys might not have a problem with the elbow and see something else. I do see more issues then just the elbow. She has a long way to go.

The swings today are as ugly as they get. I wanted to keep it real. You can even see a little bug squishing going on. Been trying to fix that for a year now. It had gone away but showed back up today. She may need to adjust to being filmed.

^^^^^^^This is a good position....separation. I'm guessing right now it's just your DD 'muscling up' for a little more power going into the ball. When DD learns to 'turn the barrel' instead of rotating her shoulders into the ball this separation will really pay off. Still it shows a good position to be in.

How about this...I like your DD's 9 yr old swing. I see some good in your DD's swing. I also see some 'over coaching' in your DD's swing. Example: her position at finish.
There are some swing mechanics that need to be addressed(very carefully to not remove the good). The sway and the 'level to the ball' swing. Lead elbow that you see and wanted to 'fix' is the result of your DD's 'level to the ball' swing. If my DD, I would work on getting rid of the sway and turn that into FBC. Again be careful. I would work on learning to tilt down to the ball with the body & barrel and not the bring the arms/hands down level to the ball. Take your time.
