So Cal
Another parent did tell me to have her move up in the box. She has always been a back of the box batter until now I guess lol. Can't hurt to try.

Another parent also said to teach her to fake bunt, pull back then swing. She said that her daughter's swing is too slow to teach her but my daughter may be able to and her coach does have her fake bunt almost every tournament. She is almost always 4th batter and if the 3rd batter only gets a single she has to fake bunt the 1st pitch to move her to 2nd so my daughter can bring her home. She was hitting at least a double pretty consistently if not better all last season with very few strike outs.

What are your thoughts on fake bunting to pull back and swing?
I just want my girl to get out of her slump!

Unless your hitter is being significantly challenged by the speed of the pitching, there is no reason to be in the back of the box. Being further forward minimizes the break of movement pitches.

For some hitters, the motion of pulling back from a bunt position can be helpful, if it's done right, and done on time. If they wait to long to pull back, they won't have enough time to execute a good swing pattern, which tends to result in a weak and panicked flail at the ball.

The bigger issue that I was referring to the ability to recognize different speeds and types of pitches and respond accordingly. Moving up in the box might make it easier to hit a breaking ball but the best solution is to make the pitcher throw strikes. The best way to do that is to stay back in the box and see the pitch longer. I think the best approach is to out her in the cage and throw her hard and soft pitches until she figures it out.
