Here's the path I'd take: swing looks great Maddie, NOW let's start really leveraging the bigger muscles in your body to get an extra 20 feet and start really putting the ball over the fence? Here's a few drills we're going to work through to get your there. Here's some pics of hitters, MLB and college, doing just that. Are you interested in becoming a true BEAST?

What kid would say no lol :)

Yep... lets get a higher compression ball than regulation & a Tee and go to a field w/ 200' fence, and get this party started

My kid...who has heard/read/seen very similar things from me since shortly after I became a DFP member. ;)

I'm not resisting the information. I just know my kid, our journey, and how our process works. We will get there.

And that's a Fact Jack!

Not here.
Out of curiosity, I went to a buddy's website where I could read about bat exit speeds. From that site was a link to a MLB site that has video of MLB Hitters and their bat exit speeds. I watched a video of Stanton hitting a ball 504' with a bat exit speed of 119.7. He'll never be any good. LOL

Never said Stanton 'will never be any good'. Stanton is 6'6'' and 249lbs. He's hitting style may not work for every hitter. If that's your hitting style and it works for you all the better.

There's no doubt that Stanton can absolutely crush the ball. He has been that kind of hitter since he was a kid. Being a very large and powerful athlete is certainly a significant contributing factor in that regard. The common criticism of his swing is that it lacks adjustability, which contributes to his high strikeout rate.

Being that Maddie has some similarities to Stanton's mechanics with regards to her hand-shoulder connection, this is an area of concern for me, and I'm trying to increase my understanding on that issue.

Believe me, I'm familiar with the dad-DD coaching thing...enjoy the journey and the great results she's having NOW. That will make her love the game and keep your own work with her fun as well, absolutely :)

As an FYI, this post was me having some fun. Notice the "LOL?" Anyway, I've contributed my thoughts and what I basically did with mine. I'll leave you guys to figure the rest of this out. IMO, Maddy's very close and so, ... Eric, please enjoy it.

I am, most certainly, enjoying it. Maddie's journey has been one hell of a fun ride so far.

Eric, you posted the swings. To me it seems/seemed like her 'normal' swing pattern. It reminds me of the 'torque/deltoid drill'. Which I had my DD using during our early years in learning the HL swing. I was showing what I see and hoping you were also able to see the 'swing pattern' that I see. It's starting to seem like I'm 'bashing' your DD and that's not my intention. So, I will bail out now. Shawn & Spartan seem to being headed into the 'direction' I would be taking Maddie.

There's no bashing IMO. Even if you can see where improvements can be made, doesn't mean those changes can be achieved. This might be the best she can do. It doesn't mean she can't hit with her current swing. Hitting is more than just mechanics.

I don't look at these threads as bashing anyone. Just giving some food for thought.

I didn't work with my dd for about a year under the advice that it's time for dad to let go. Now I am back coaching her and just facts no brag or dog.

I think this is bad advice for some people:) If a Dad is driving their kid crazy, yeah it's time to step away. I stopped for awhile also when DD started 18U and it really bugged me because I enjoyed it so much, but then DD started struggling and asked for me to help. Just like you RHC, we are pretty serious about getting it right while practicing but we still have fun. It helps that her college coach tells her almost the same things we talk about on here.

I'm enjoying Maddie's journey on DFP Eric. I love that you're willing to share all the video. I'll just sit back and let the smart ones respond though.
