If it's her only bat, you could just have her bunt until it gets above 55! It is relatively uncommon to see a bat break in cold weather in 12U or younger because the girls just aren't that strong yet. Personally, IMO, bats were made to be swung and perform much better when they have siblings. Cold weather is always an excellent excuse to justify acquiring another bat. Most serious older players will have a game bat and at least one back up (or more) in reserve in case the gamer expires. Re your first back up bat - it doesn't have to be a new bat, but if it is, save $ and buy last year's model at a significant savings (but if it has to be the current year's model, don't ever pay MSRP - contact Coresoftball for your best deal).

PS Don't publicly ask a hard-core DFPer how many bats they/their DD have, as an honest answer could get many in trouble with their significant other. Speaking off the record, my DD usually had 3 or 4 in her game bag, and I usually had another (pick a number between 4 and 10) in my bag, trunk, office to avoid scrutiny. Some say its an afflication, some say its a comparatively harmless vice, others say its fun to beg, borrow, barter, or borrow bats as long as you never pay full retail!

We have the exact same forecast tomorrow. What's the lowest temperature that would be safe to use the new LXT?
Safe is relative and arbitrary. Most manufacturers state that the bat warranty is voided if damaged when temperatures are less than 60 or 55 F, although they really have know way of knowing. The problem with cold with is actually that the ball becomes significantly denser and harder. Best bet is to try to store and keep the balls as warm as you can. Besides being illegal in many associations, bat warmers are proven to be of little use.

This^^^. Hit it like you stole it! Warranty is for when you break it. And clean the dimple ball marks off it before you send it in!

I have 2 dd's, both have swung a variety of bats. The only times they broke bats was in games above 55 degrees despite hitting in all weather and hitting dimple balls. Know what you want to avoid? Cold/bad condition dimple balls. The guy who leaves his decade old dimple balls in a freezing shed or garage is the devil. That's where things go terribly wrong.
