I am a 2nd year coach and am charged with preparing the girls for the JV and varsity squad in 1 year. We have spent the last two seasons having either our coaches or girls pitch to the batters batting practice. Although we have done fairly well having lost only 4 games the last two seasons. I'm interested in peoples opinions on if I should buy a pitching machine and if so which one(s) or continue the way we've been doing thus far. TIA. Coach M

If your in the market, check out the Hack Attack Jr. Nice machine. Our team has used one for the past 3 seasons with no issues. It's awfully handy when there's no pitchers around.

Yes if you get one it's critical IMO to get a machine like the Hack Attack where the hitter can see the ball and at least get some sort of timing off the machine.

I absolutely recommend a machine. We use it not only for various hitting drills but also for outfielders. I have 300" of extension cord and take it on the field. Way better than indoors.

I think pitching machines are worthless and can even be detrimental. Timing is key, and machines don't allow for proper timing. Besides, what you're doing now seems to be working. I wouldn't mess with success.

Our team has had access to a pitching machine for years, but other than occasionally using it for bunt drills, we have not used it since 12U. We prefer front toss and live pitching. Therefore, I would not recommend spending a bunch of money on one unless you have some younger teams (8U, 10U, 12U) in the organization who would benefit from using it.
