For comment, helpful input and group learning. Some girls I am working with (one is my kid) from recent practice including a few of my notes

First impression...both seem to be out of sequence, and shifting to their front side too early - shift THEN swing. We want to see shift AND swing.

I like it! The first batter really gets the lower half into the swing. The second batter does also but leaves a little too much on the back leg. I see power in both!

How so? To me the sequence seems similar to most swings I see on the Model Swings thread so I would be curious as to what I am missing when it comes to sequence. Could you pick a model swing or two to compare/contrast

I had a hitter that hit like this tonight. She left the hitting session disappointed as she tried to maintain this 'style' of hitting and I relentlessly objected.

Look at this swing ... where is the "throw"? It's way way way too late IMO. It is so late that instead there is a late 'push'. Said differently ... she's putting on a seat belt.

Where is the resistance that accompanies the throw? It isn't there, because there is no throw. The energy transfer process is absent.

Do not fear pre-contact extension.

Extend into and through impact.

Throw the barrel.

Throw the barrel much much much earlier.

When?

Go through the RVP-connection-point with the attitude of throwing the barrel. Obtain maximum hand speed going through the RVP-connection-point position. Flail the barrel along the rear forearm from that point onwards.

Let the energy flow down the rear arm. Let the energy flow down the rear upper arm ... down through the rear forearm ... through the top hand wrist ... into the barrel. Let the body's rotation come to a stop/pause because the energy is being drained/consumed/transferred into the throw.

Throw the darn barrel!

All of her swings didn't look like that. That particular swing appears to be the result of adjusting to a ball up in the zone. Slow motion may make it look worse also.

They looked like that to me.

Honestly ... I picked a swing at random and was describing what I saw based on her swing in general. She's rotating into the ball.

If you aren't going to go out and get a pitch high in the zone, then what are you going to do when it is low in the zone?

Looks like RDB already answered that question.

I've read thousands of your posts and this one may be my favorite because I can feel the passion in your tone...thank you for that!

Doesn't Doc Yaeger have a throw the barrel vid? Again, out of town and no access to my "hitting favs." Or am I thinking of Elk talking about "throwing the club head?"

While the girl in white has a "turn the body into the ball" approach to hitting, with a restrictive "along" / "long through", the girl in black is "level and fling" and lacks an understanding of "working the barrel" / "around" / "short-to". She drops the barrel to "attack from below", rather than using a proper hand path and "attacking from the top".
