Mann, in the prior post I described these frames as going into the barrel turning process. In the last frame the barrel is seen going into its swing arc ... i.e. it is being turned.

So you and teacherman for years have preached, turn the barrel, (RIGHT NOW).
You now say its a process before you turn the barrel?
HaHa....:D

I'm missing your point, SL. I seems to me that everyone agrees that there is a process that happens before the barrel gets turned/launched. The pre-turn/launch process is what creates the resistance necessary to turn/launch RightNow!

Also, the FFS comment you quoted is over a year old. Just sayin'...

I'm not seeing your point of confusion. The sending of the barrel into its swing arc is the turning of the barrel.

It's around/along ... short-to/long-through.

I have for years said you turn the corner before barrel launch.
Turning the corner is longer on a inside pitch.
Have been flamed over and over for that remark.

Also have heard from FFS and Teacherman that that barrel gets turned (RIGHT NOW)....That has changed now? Enlighten me on, your new way...:)
Now there is a process before barrel turn?
Just say it like I do
Turn the corner before barrel launch

Howard and Bustos have been teaching that for years...:D

I teach players that they need to get to box before barrel launch. That to me is turning the corner before launch.

Of course the sequence begins before the barrel is turned/worked. Sending the barrel into its swing arc is not the "beginning" of the swing sequence. I don't know of anyone claiming that to be the case.

Regarding what Howard and Bustos have been teaching for years ... it has some folks a bit confused.

Now I'm confused.....

If this is what you mean by "turn the corner before barrel launch", then I want no part of it.

stop arguing this point. You guys believe in the same thing now. Sl is correct in that for the past half a decade some of us have advocated the importance of LAG/ Load, and some were saying turn the barrel now, like teach and swingbuilder.

There are still two camps, and i try both ways all the time. One i use when i am swinging all out, with no thought on "direction".

Mann, SL is clear about what he is blabbering about. Working the barrel has never been the start of the swing sequence. He is engaging in another straw man argument.

I'm a fan of connectors. (We own the "perfect conextion") However, I don't like how it inhibits a full swing.
I bought a "reverse connector" (my terminology)
Its an elastic band connected to two straps around the batters bicep area. It forces you to stay spread and compact to contact without the mechanical bar holding you back while getting through the ball. It works by applying muscle memory into the equation. The elastic is trying to pull your arms together but you have to keep them spread with muscle. After a few dozen swings, its like magic. The arms automatically spread without even trying.
I found it on a site called baseball rebellion. The product is called the bat drag buster. I paid $30 for it but had I known how simple it was, I could have been made for under $10
It is IMO one of the best tools ever made for teaching a correct swing. We even use it in live BP with no issues at all.

Coach James, are you still using this device? I am working on DD2's swing and forgot I had one of these from back in the day. Gonna dust it off this weekend.

As you look at this clip, ask yourself a few questions.

20s95pv.gif

Do you see the rear elbow lowering? Do you see the elbow-to-elbow spacing becoming less?

Do you see the lead shoulder ‘becoming’ elevated?

Do you see the bottom hand wrist flattening? Do you see the lead arm aligning to the upcoming perceived swing plane? Yes … the bottom hand has, in a sense, worked in a manner to find the ball. You aren’t turning the barrel and then later catching the barrel to bring it to the ball …. not at all … you are turning the barrel with direction in mind.

There is nothing to see here......???
