As you look at this clip, ask yourself a few questions.

Do you see the rear elbow lowering? Do you see the elbow-to-elbow spacing becoming less?

Do you see the lead shoulder ‘becoming’ elevated?

Do you see the bottom hand wrist flattening? Do you see the lead arm aligning to the upcoming perceived swing plane? Yes … the bottom hand has, in a sense, worked in a manner to find the ball. You aren’t turning the barrel and then later catching the barrel to bring it to the ball …. not at all … you are turning the barrel with direction in mind.

Are you turning the barrel during the above clip?

To me, the barrel is moving, but the hands have not begun the process of turning the barrel.

Mann, in the prior post I described these frames as going into the barrel turning process. In the last frame the barrel is seen going into its swing arc ... i.e. it is being turned.

So you believe the wrists are turning the barrel, or, in these series of frames, are the wrists still loaded?

Mann, I believe I've directed you to the book "The Physics of Golf". I did so for the purpose of you considering the swing model in which the hands where initially used early in the swing, and then forced wrist tension levels reduced to allow a more hinge-like release action through contact. As that process unfolds you'll find that the top hand becomes quite loaded.

Just as a follow up, I found this on Amazon for like $15. Since it would cost about the same to make one myself, I ordered it. It came today and I think it will do the trick to give DD a better feel.

As it pertains to FiveFrames comment above on how the rear elbow can close the distance before the device really can be effective...

How about a spring loaded end, that can be depressed so as to represent the elbow drop?
