Mike Candrea does not teach to swing down. Candrea's teams play against pitchers that see reaction times that are shorter than that of 85mph baseball pitches and his teams year in and year out seem to do very well.

Will, I know pstein just mentioned speed but there is other stuff to contend with.

So, do you think that Candres's hitters could handle MLB pitching? You just stated they handle shorter reaction times.

I don't think they'd be late on the pitch, but a softball does not move near as much as a baseball and it does come at a bit of a different angle so I would think they would struggle, just like baseball players struggle when trying to hit a pitch from top softball pitchers.

I love the Sports Science segments. I can watch them all day long.

I do get the point - but a better comparison would have been Verlander to Lawrie....90 in baseball is fast but closer to average....how many times are you seeing 68-70 in fastpitch in college, let alone highschool....plus you have a bigger target to hit in fastpitch....and the ball is yellow....lol

I also get your point but 90 is not average in HS/College baseball. Baseball: smaller ball, larger barrel. Softball: larger ball, smaller barrel. We could go on. Let's just say hitting is not easy at the elite levels of baseball and softball.

Never says to swing down on ball like Long does...never. Mann, what Enquist drill?

Never? You have been with him every time he has taught hitting or talked about hitting? In these videos he doesn't say it but he sure demos it.

A high level baseball player wouldn't struggle for long. After he processes the release point. Game over.

Softball: Hottest bats on the planet with a giant sweet spot. Baseball: No hot bats and small sweet spot.

Isnt Verlander avg fb is like 95? Can get up to 99-100. In college softball hitters have to contend with great riseballs, not in baseball.
