I am trying to find some drills to do for my DD because she is striding out to far toward pitcher in her swing. She is losing all of her power and is all arms by stepping forward to far when swinging. This has developed into a habit and I need to break it now. Any drills would be great. Thanks again.

Somebody suggested the bucket drill in another post. If you do a search you can find it with video. Essentially put a weighted bucket in front of stride foot when she hits it she will go to toe touch and heel plant

My dd use to do the same thing,I put a 2X4 in front of her stride foot, I had her stride forward were it looked good and laid the 2X4 down. She would hit off the tee, when I say she hit off the tee, I mean over 100 balls everyday and her over striding went away.In one years time, I would bet that my dd hits 10000 ball off a tee a year, give or take.I would guess to say that would be a average amount with girls that are serious about hitting, some girls that number would be low.

I have done similar, but standing on a 2x10. Measure a good stride length for them add 3 inches and put a brick on the 2x10. Have them stand with back foot at brick and hit off a tee. If they are bug squishing the brick will move. If they over stride they will be off the front of the 2x10.

Not here.
Reason I asked was in another post he asked about a tee with a anti-lunge bar.Lunging in my DD case was toned down alot by just asking a question. The question was why?Her response was going out to get the ball.I instructed her to wait for the ball. Also showed her pics of batters with their front legs lock out.

Muss24,
When you say to "to far towards pitcher" do you mean lunging?

It is somewhat of a lung toward the ball. She is a right-handed batter and her left foot seems to stride out to far toward pitcher. I would like to see her keepings the stride to a minimum to get more power.

Could she be hitting the ball too far out front causing her to lunge? My dd is really wide at contact and she hits hard. Look at Mendoza, after stride she covers the whole batter's box. Maybe post a vid if you like, could be something else causing loss of power.

Lunge, would be if your DD after heal plant body continued going forward. Some batters seem to be pushing the bat towards the ball instead of whipping the bat to the ball with a locked out front leg.The length or lack of stride will not get her more power. The proper sequence will.Sounds like you should start with the bottom half.I'm just trying to understand exactly what your DD is doing so posters will be able to address the problem better.
