Looking for some good hitting drills for my daughter. She has just finished her first year of softball. We are now starting summer ball and she is looking to get better and stronger her swing needs help.

Problem areas are
Drops bat barrel during swing (kinda loopy)instead of throwing hands at the ball.
Steps out when she swings(right handed batter steps to third) instead of at the ball/pitcher.
Doesn't follow through(Idk if the ball is stopping the momentum)

She is currently swinging a worth fpx composite bat 30/18 looking into getting her the rip-it reaper light 30/18 (bat manufactuer says it swings like a -10 drop bat)
Thanks in advance

Search for the post:Megan1-Tee started by Immortal1 and also the post:started by dukie "Take a look at daughters swing" this should get you started in the right direction.Hope this helps.

Honestly for 8U players, we've discovered that the tee is the best teaching tool. Once I got my DD swinging with proper form her hits have been much more solid and she understands her swing now. Before, she was swinging with whatever was comfortable.

If the ball's momentum is stopping her bat from following through - in my experience, this is form. Work on perfecting her L to power V.

I try to mix up tee work with soft toss, wiffle balls and live pitch. My daughter is also 8. If she is dropping her hands it might be because her bat is a little on the big side. You would be surprised at how much an oz or two affects them at this age. There are very few on her Allstar team using a 30/18 and the ones who do have to choke up on it.
