Tips for seeing the ball

My DD has been working on her batting for the last year and is hitting the ball extremely well when she hits it . She is a catcher and as such she sees a lot of pitches from behind the plate and is proficient at knowing when they are strikes or balls . The problem arises when she is in the batters box she is swinging at junk and standing there motionless as perfect , belly button high balls are crossing the plate . We have discussed having a Yes , Yes , Yes mentality at the plate and have given up using a pitching machine as of late . She see's a lot of her coaches pitches as well as front and side toss . I am sure it is a matter of time before she gets this figured out but am wondering if you have any tips that might help her speed up the process .

IMO hitters having troubles is do to 2 things, bad mechanics, and too much going on upstairs. The later being much more the case. You need to be confident and a clear mind. No trying to hr, triple, dbl. No thinking about winning it for the team. Just good self talk before stepping in the box, "my hands are fast, I am seeing the ball really well today, etc". 1 or 2 deep breathes, flush all thought out of mind, pick a focal point (the same spot on the bat is a good choice) and start mental mantra "see the ball...react, See the ball, react". Step in and follow the mantra. One thing most big hitters will say "I don't step in trying to get a big hit, just make contact and trust my mechanics."

Every girl I have swinging at bad pitches is trying to do to much. Most swings at high pitches are followed by my "we don't need to to win the game with this at bat, just see the ball, that simple."

You are probably dead on about her being up in her head overthinking it . When she swings on junk you can see the frustration on her face .

She did hit 2 triples and got on base numerous times this weekend even though she didn't get much playing time .
