This comes up sometimes, I know DD went through this a few years ago. While at P if she threw the ball to 1st it would go 10' over their head most the time. Once it starts it is hard to stop.

Purposely bounce the ball on throws to 1st base.
Sounds like he has only tried it once in a game resulting in a 2 base throwing error. It was the backup 1st basemen so that doesn't count.
