I am sure this has been posted countless times but here it goes anyway.

DD is 11 years old and finishing the last few months of 10U fastpitch. Starting in August she is moving to 12 U and of course the 12 inch softball. Her natural position is SS and she currently uses a Mizuno MVP 11.5 inch glove which serves her well. I am wanting to upgrade her glove now for the rest of her school years. I am thinking of buying her a Wilson 11.75" A2000 glove. According to her coach that is too small and the players on the team use anywhere from a 12" to 13" glove. Everywhere I have read it list 11.5" to 12" for middle infielders position all the way up to college. I just want to get an idea of what everyone else uses.

My 10U dd, who also moves to 12U in the fall, has an 11.75 (or 11.5?) Mizuno. I think it's the MVP. We plan to get her a fancy glove when she gets through all these growth spurts. She pitches and plays SS and 3B.

Its all what they are comfortable with. Girls with good hands are fine in the smaller gloves down to 11.5. A lot of my infielders use 12, one uses a 13.5 (which seems so huge) (this is at 12u) A lot of my girls that Pitch and play MI, use 12.25 for a hair more "protection" on the mound. There is no right or wrong answer, I think as the girls get older and better at reading the balls, the smaller glove benefits them more.

Natural position is SS.:)

13.5 sounds huge. :)

DD plays P, IF and OF with 12" glove. Like bats wieghts gloves vary by manufacturer.

11.5 seems slightly small but not much. SS it is fine but she might like it a little larger for other positions.

(Heard good things about A2000 glove)

DD2 is an 18U SS and uses All Star 3 finger 11.5" glove. Quicker transfer out of a smaller glove.

I have been thinking the same thing my daughter moves up to 12u officially in August she plays 3rd base and looking to upgrade her glove. Locally (south texas) I see alot of players using the baseball A2000's not sure of the size. Is using baseball gloves common in other parts?

I believe the Wilson A2000 is the most popular glove out there. The most popular glove I sell from Vinci on the boards - the BV1929-L was actually a baseball glove, but smaller finger wells help it fit snuggly on smaller hands so it became popular. Its all about what ever they are comfortable with, baseball / softball. etc. If she tries on a baseball glove and likes it's fit then no reason to not go with it.

I got my daughter (10yr) a 12 inch all star vela this year. It's going to last her a long time. She plays pitcher, and infield.
My friend told me 12 inch is perfect for fastpitch all the way up. He was right I think.
That MVP is a nice starter glove but she'll be getting hand stingers when she moves up I bet. My girl loved her MVP glove.

I went ahead and bought her a Wilson A2000 12" custom glove. It should be her last glove up until 12th grade. I hope it does well as it should. I think the 12" will be just the right size for her and any position she will play.
