My 10 yo DD has been complaining about bicep area of her arm hurting after throwing. Any suggestions about what she might need to do or change to help arm not hurt from throwing?
Is she a pitcher? Does she see a pitching coach who can check her mechanics? Take some video and play it back in slow motion. I suspect she is rotating her wrist early in her circle putting extra pressure on her elbow and bicep.
Since this is the fielding section I'll assume it's throwing not pitching. Strange that it's the bicep and not the elbow, but maybe it's just how she is describing it.
I would 100% go to High Level Throwing - and download the softball throwing e-book and videos and teach her to throw and leverage her big muscles taking pressure off her arm when she's 10. Priceless.
We are putting our 18U team through this protocol right now because even though many of their throwing patterns are burnt in I want to give them every chance to survive high school season, where the coaches overthrow every day of the week and inevitably 1 or 2 players go down with sore elbows -- with the only way to fix it is shutting down for a few weeks.
If the player's throwing mechanics are reasonably sound, I tend to be more concerned with elbow pain than bicep pain, but it's wise to be cautious. Has she had an increase in the amount of throwing she has been doing recently? Is she just returning to playing after a break? If so, it may be just her muscles getting used to the new workload - possibly also combined with a growth spurt. That said, if it's something that has persisted for a couple of weeks, or if her throwing mechanics are significantly off-track, some concern may be warranted.
Increase her protein. Have her drink those protein drinks each night before bed for a week. See how that helps. I have seen many a young athlete now complain about sore arms and legs, and honestly, they just needed a protein boost. My family drinks the Core Powers. they have a few different flavors, and they taste pretty decent. (my dd had some serious arm pain too, fixed her up in a few days .. pain went from about a 7 to maybe a 2)

Interesting that it's a bi issue. Does it hurt when she does anything else. Have her curl something to see if it hurts during that activity. If so, maybe she strained it somehow.
