Warrior - I know this is an older post, but this tool has been on my mind lately. My son used this all last off-season. It works pretty well to force them to use the second hand to secure the ball and make a quick transfer.

My question is this - I know a t-ball sized glove is an actual glove with a pocket, but given that it's smaller, would one get the same/similar result using it to field the 12" softball? I've been thinking about having my 14U dd use a t-ball glove for fielding drills. My thinking is that it would force her to get her glove more behind the ball (i.e. lower to the ground) to successfully field the ball. Sometimes she relies on the extra reach her glove gives her to not get as low as she should.

Thoughts?

We've got one of these for DD--it's just the cheapie $15 foam version (sklz?), but it works well enough and IMO it's not used enough that we really need an expensive one. She uses it every now and then with her bounceback net in place of a regular glove--makes it more challenging and keeps her honest. :-D

I bought a bunch of those round plastic paddles with an elastic strap across the back and velcro on the front at Target after Easter. We used them with my rec ball team this summer. I think they were like $1-$2 each. The girls always got a kick out of using those.

I have 9 of the Skilz version for sale.
They were used once and have initials on them.

PM me if interested with a reasonable offer.
Shipping shouldn't be bad - they are light weight.

Yes, a small glove is somewhat similar. I find the soft hands gloves fun myself. At Candrea's coaching camps, he says he doesn't like them, because it forces the girl to bring the ball and glove up to her chest and he doesn't want that. But, I think for most girls, the drill is fine.

Thanks, Bandits. I didn't know about those. The above is what the college coaches preach, that I haven't really studied, yet.

You're welcome. We also use these to field ground balls with the little zip balls and then move up to 11" balls and then up to 12" balls. Just working on seeing it in to the glove.

Yeah I wasn't aware coaches would use flat gloves for fielding, I've only seen them used for catchers and middle infielders practicing transfers for throwing out runners, relay throws, double plays...that type of thing. Situations where you don't want to catch in the web.
