DD has had her glove for 2 years now. She loves it and insists that her glove is just fine and has plenty of life. However, when I look at others, their gloves look fuller. So, when do you know it's time? She's 13 playing on 12U team (2nd year).

Is she having any problem fielding with it? If not she doesn't NEED a new one.

I have a glove that I've been using for close to 20 years. Used it when I played hard ball and still use it today when coaching softball. Don't see any reason for a new one really.

[SUB][/SUB]At the younger ages you are chasing the ball, mitt and hand size. Your DD is at the age where she is almost done growing. If she is doing well, leave her alone. Maybe next year do some glove shopping for another glove that will last her for a while. Take your time. 10 YOA DD’s current mitt took us 6 months to find something she was happy with.

My mitt is 30 years old and looks it, have no interest in getting another glove.

It took me about two days of serious internet shopping to find one that I could live with (not exactly what I wanted, but it would do) when my glove broke at the beginning of season this year... I say keep going until you can tell you need a new one. It was time. When my dad bought that glove, he said it would last the rest of my life.

He obviously didn't think I would be playing this much softball.

Actually I think she may be a good player and I think if that gloves are not damage no need to take a good one, you know my father has a pair of glove and he has been using it more than 23 years, he used it when he played softball.

Two ACs, one on each of the two teams I coach has the gloves they used in high school and they still work great. They might have dirt on them from 25 years ago but they still work fine. If it feels good and all the parts are there then it comes back to personal preference. I know my glove and catch better with it than a borrowed glove and all the work I put into it breaking it in, I will keep it till it falls apart. It isn't even some high end glove. It is a nice Easton Synergy 13" it was about $80. I love it. I actually lost one before it was a few months old and replaced it with the same glove.
