Cold weather on bats to me starts in the lower 40's up here in ND, unless its a big game haha. Girls high school team broke 8 softball bats in the last two years. Mostly playing in the 30's and lower 40's. All composites. The Anderson bats, which we use now, (2018-2020) are absolute tanks and will take whatever the weather has to dish out. If its a big game and super cold, its up to my daughter to smash one of her good ones lol.

I’ll add this: your kid will never hit a ball farther than on a fifty degree day. After seven straight years of spring high school ball in the Midwest, I’ll tell you this: your kid will never hit as many hr’s as on a fifty degree day. Cold pitchers fingers plus barreled upballs off a coolish bat equals otf festivals. Old timers talk about warming up the barrel. I say let the other team mush up their bats with heat all they want. Leave ours by the dugout door just chillin’ please.

Not the cold bats...its the cold balls that make it fly in cold temps. Keeping the bats warm keeps the composite flexible. Nothing better than a hard azz ball and a nice warm bat...that
perfect combo :)
