Beautiful area, know the area pretty well, used to mountain bike at Bent Creek, Pisgah, and DuPont quite a bit, very easy places to die! One of my phases in life, went through the golf phase, got pretty good pretty fast, when I started dating my wife I was a legitimate 5 handicap. Of course you know how that ended:rolleyes:.

I think Anna 4 when I started mountain biking, hardest thing I’ve ever done!! At that time we lived 3 or 4 miles from the U.S. Whitewater center in Charlotte. I used to ride there 4 times a week after work, I’d usually get 8 to 10 miles in, which 8 to 10 miles in the woods is equal to almost double that on the road!

Then when Anna started playing ball, biking went away, lousy excuse on my part! Mountain biking is something I vow to start doing again, I’ll probably die though! There’s was nothing more relaxing than pushing yourself in the woods after work, you sleep very good!

Maybe we could meet up at Sierra Nevada , and talk to a couple of beer executives about a donation towards a new state of the art softball complex in your area!! Or.....we could just meet up at Sierra Nevada wink wink!

all my hobbies went away when the kids began having their own lives too but i wouldn't trade it for the world though. we just started getting into mountain biking recently as something for my boy and i to do together.. we already hike and backpack but the biking kicks our butts.. i tell everyone i go hiking and take my bike with me. thats how much we walk it up hills.. its ironic about the field thing.. sc has tons of nice parks, but the asheville area has none.. they just built the bob lewis park in enka and it is terrible.http://www.lewisrealestatenc.com/properties/projects/bob-lewis-ballpark/. my understanding is they see the problems are trying to remedy them, but the biggest issue is no lights.. as much of a tourist draw this place is it would make for an awesome destination tournament location if they could get the fields right and the math on travel sports supports municipalities throwing money at facilities..

GAME NIGHT, GAME NIGHT............and we sucked!! Was looking very forward to tonight's game against the team we beat in the State Championship final last year. We gave up 4 in the top of the first and our girls checked out! Never once gained any momentum, they hit, we didn't, plain and simple! Their coach had a game plan and their girls were jacked, our dugout looked and sounded like either a funeral home or all of our girls dog's died at exactly the same time yesterday (right before the game)!

You know it's not your night when......we would take the field and it would pour down rain, we get the 3rd out, they take the field and it would completely stop! It did that for 4 innings! But, no excuses, they handed us our butts last night, they came ready to play and we just watched!

Anyway, the MS team played right before us, the AD did a quick drag and re-lined the infield, just wanted to show you a few more pics.

when we watch college softball, we judge the facility by the view outside the outfield fences. Your field is more spectacular than most colleges. Whoever decided to position the field like that did an awesome job!

I thought it looked okay last night, in about a month it’ll look awesome! I plan on adding pics to this thread, the next night game I’ll get some under the lights. We have a local D2 school in the small town right beside us, probably just 6 or 7 miles from our field, I don’t remember the reason (it was more than several years ago) but they used our field a couple of times for practice. Their HC said she'd trade with us in a heartbeat, our facility just blew theirs away, and that was way before all of the new additions!

I somewhat agree....the center field flagpole should be right around the left field foul line! During a game at sunset, the sun is directly above the top of the trees perfectly inline with the flagpole, and it is BRUTAL. So bad in fact on the boys baseball field they have installed this HUGE sunscreen about the width of the bleachers and I'm guessing over 30' tall? Just enough to protect the pitchers from a line drive. The softball field needs one too!
