The price of bats went up? I paid $300 for my Ultra II and Original Freak in 2003. Man, those bats were hot. 15 + years later and $350 is the norm. That is not too bad an increase.

You overpaid for them back then sir, and not talking slowpitch bats. Fp bats were tops at 250-299 a short time ago...now 349-449 are the norm. When you are talking a 250-299, going to 349-449 is quite a percentage increase. Again, not all because of fraud...but its a factor.

Slowpitch hasnt been too bad, the norm was 249 a long time ago...now its 299-329. But, manufacturers cant do much with sp because
they just wont sell if priced much higher.

I still have my original Ultra in my basement. I turned it in to get the seal removed, got it back, and have never swung it again. I should get that thing listed on ebay at some point.

Similar thing with my Freak. The knob plug popped out. I sent it back to Miken to get fixed. The bat was then taken off the approved list in-between seasons. I got the bat back and never got to use it again. I did use it in BP a couple of times just to make myself feel good though.

You have the original grey Ultra1 Maxload?

People that have had or swung the original Maxload know that the UltraII wasn't the best bat by far. And actually, the rare original Boombah Cannon beats the UltraII.
Nowadays, all senior bats are insane.

Yes, I have the original Ultra I Maxload sitting in my basement. I just now pulled it out to look at it, and was surprised to see it is 29 oz. I thought I swing a 28 oz back then.

Back in the day, you would have gotten a very nice chuck of money for a Grey Ultra Max with ASA stamps (like 7-8 hundo)...obviously more for 26 and 27oz than a 29oz. People were painting these to look like other bats so you had jackazzes paying thru the nose for a Og Ultra to have someone paint it. I think the market def slowed
and lessened on the price because of all the bats that have come out...like the 3000 years of the UltraII's being made and even reissues of the Og. Also, with testing,
no Ultra would pass compression anyway so painting I think has kinda died off a while ago.

You still have collectors that may be interested in a real Og Max and pay decent money.

So back in the day, I used to play in the top city softball league. We generally finished second to a bunch of altered and painted bat cheaters. When the Ultras came out, my team picked up a ton of power. Their team did not change at all. We went on to win the city title because we were better when using the same equipment. Then they outlawed the bats, my team suddenly lost a lot of power, and their team stayed the same. All these years later, and I am still ticked.

So the Ultras helped everyone, but it made the biggest difference to the bottom of the line up guys. Suddenly our little guys had home run power.

You finished second to painters and cheaters...then the Ultras came out? The Ultras were the bats getting painted, so I am guessing it wasn't painted bats beating you.
