Just tried this with my 4'2" DD(9). If you go by this for length, she should only be using a 25". Either my DD has very long arms, or this rule of thumb only applies after puberty. DD swings a 28" 17oz. She is able to hold it out at arms reach for 10 seconds like the video shows.

Try using width of the shoulders times two.

When they are really young I don’t know if it works but most times that is money.

I didn’t watch the video.

at that age i let my dd swing an aluminum -13. that 30" reach was nice... nowadays you can get a carbon if you want.. honestly not sure its worth it for most kids though

I hate the "book"...ok, im done :)

I could not agree more.

I seriously don’t know what holding a bat out to your side tells a hitter about bat size. Sounds like something that Just Bats scripted her to say or she is repeating something she heard in 1986. Wasn’t she...... a pitcher? How about we ask Crystl Bustos what she thinks.

Funny...Bustos swung a 34/26 Miken Freak slowpitch bat back in her hayday.

That's besides the point :)...I just think each girl is different and "the book" doesn't take into consideration strength or hitter. Then too many parents
that don't know hitting rely on this stuff as the holy grail because that's what is told to them to look at.

And nobody's "book" even remotely gets into drop8 or 9's

Who isn't chill...did I use capitals.

Actually talking to WW

Mj, I am perfectly fine with stuff like this as a starter reference and then going from there. From personal experience, too many hold
these graphs/books/whatever as the set in stone holy grail and this is what is has to be.

The only point I was trying to make, it is ok if your dd doesn't fit what any of these tables/graphs/yada yada say she should be swinging. Just because
whatever says that's her bat, doesn't mean its correct. Use it to get a starting point and don't be afraid to let her be her own hitter. You never know
what you may be missing.
