Mods: Need a pinned thread from or glove people (you know who you are!)

Techniques. Products. What not to do. How to store your glove in your bag. Real world stuff. Easy instructions even a caveman could follow! Pictures! Assume we know nothing about because most of us don’t!

I think glove cleaning is somewhat self explanatory, I also think glove longevity comes from two main things, blocking sweat from the inside and the binding and keeping it out of extreme heat (hot car trunk). Okay 3 things, how it was initially broken it!

Ww, we’re playing right now, I’ll get back here later on.

EDIT: Okay four (4) things:rolleyes:, also how it’s stored when not in use! I’m sure I’ll come up with a fifth here shortly!

Absolutely- and this does not have to be a “right now” thing- sometime when some of our gurus are working on their gloves maybe they can just kind of document it.

When you guys post glove pics I always feel self conscious. I have bought several of the products mentioned in many threads but I just can’t seem to make them look as nice.

Westwind, I do own a bottle of Lexol leather cleaner in the orange bottle, honestly I think I’ve used it twice? I’m just not a glove restorer who’s always cleaning 20 and 30 year old gloves. When one of mine or Anna’s gloves gets really dirty I wipe them off real good with a hot damp washcloth.

For our needs I can make things work with two products, a container of beeswax and a leather conditioner. For beeswax I’ve always used Jobsite but thanks to one of the forum members here I just got a new container of Obenauf’s, which I’m looking forward to using!

For a leather conditioner, either Lexol in the brown bottle or Surf City Voodoo Blend, both excellent conditioners! I’ve switched to the Surf City more because of it’s creamy consistency and smell, but I’d use use either at any time without thought. Lexol is definitely more readily available so that’s a consideration.

I’m completely sold out on the beeswax thing, that’s now a must for me for sealing out sweat and moisture on the inside palm liner and heel binding. So get yourself a container of Obenauf’s heavy duty LP and either one of those conditioners and that should cover 95%+ of your needs.

Great advice here. On the beeswax, how much do you use inside the glove, a pea size amount?

For routine maintenance, I like the ease of use and results of the Lexol conditioner (brown bottle). I try to give my DD's gives a wipe down with the conditioner every few months. For daily storage in her bag, my DD keeps a ball in the pocket and uses a Mizuno glove wrap. It's a little bit of an extra step when she's putting her gear away, but it's become part of her routine.

Very small amount, very thin coat. Just rub it in till you almost can’t feel it.
Got the beeswax yesterday. It's definitely a semi hard wax. I got some on my fingers and just put hand into glove a couple of times. Went on super easy.
Thanks for the advice.
