my el cheapo Rawlings I use to workout with DD had the mid finger laces break (as well as those lace holes tearing). Was in a bind, wanted a quick fix, was in Walmart, thought I would take a gamble and check out craft, shoe and sports sections, no good leather lacing available, but then I saw something in craft section that sparked an idea.

long story short, I relaced the mid finger laces (along with rerouting into webbing, as holes as said were tearing, no complaints, I paid $30 for the glove new) with paracord. Only used the glove a few times since, but it seems to be doing OK. Glove is not worth putting good laces in. I did have to cauterize (?) the ends carefully after was done.

still have say 80% of the paracord I bought leftover, put this into my "glove bag" (string bag with old receiving blanket, conditioner, and lacing tool), and will keep this with us for all games. In a pinch, better than nothing, and being very flexible, relacing was much faster than with leather, used same tool (I dont do it often, I bought the took in a kit with a short bit of lace to repair my yard sale Rawlings ($7), but then had more laces start to go and just don't have time to figure out relacing entire thing, shame, good glove).

I've never personally used paracord in a glove, but tons of people have and it works. I think it was Nike who had a synthetic glove that came factory with paracord.....I think?

I used my shoe lace to repair DD's glove once in the middle of a tournament. After that I added a lacing needle and spare lacing to my pitching bucket so I always had it with me.

On my old Rawlings (i mean old) bought in 1974 and still in use today ,i have used 'zip ties',, the ones with metal in them a few times and there is still one in there now . They work great :)

Paracord works great and it's handy to have around. I've used shoe laces, 12ga copper wire, and even baling twine that I found on the ground from when a landscaper spread pinestraw

I just ordered a Highland kit from Amazon. I'm hoping I have enough lace to relace the fingers on the allstar vela and
have a extra piece to put in dd bag just in case. I guess you could get by with zip ties or a shoe string but I'd rather have
a piece of leather.
