My high school-aged daughter has played infield her whole life but has been playing outfield more and more on her club team and might be in need of an outfield glove. She's using an 11.75" Mizuno Classic now intended for 2nd/3rd which she seems to like. She can can get discounted Mizuno gloves through her club team. Any thoughts on the Mizuno Pro Select 12.5" (click here)? It looks like it's only available in the closed web. Any thoughts on the closed web for the outfield? I'm definitely not a glove expert so just curious on thoughts.

Sorry, yeah it’s a baseball glove, that’s all I ever buy or look at. Although the fastpitch model Pro Select doesn’t have velcro, good on Mizuno! Will they be different?? Honestly I don’t know, the fastpitch model *may* start off with a little snugger hand stall? Or it *may* start off with a little deeper pocket and differently shaped heel? A 12.75” baseball glove is more than plenty enough glove to play outfield with!

She’s HS age....what size girl and what size batting glove? Being an outfielder has she ever used a glove two-in-pinky (TIP)? If not I highly suggest it for outfield. Gives her hand added leverage and strength, especially for a real glove like a Pro Select, plus it gives the glove a deeper pocket.

You guys absolutely stuck on Mizuno? Team sponsor or endorsement?

She's 5' 5" and medium/small size hands. Her Mizuno Classic infield glove is fastpitch specific and fits her hand perfect, but she's had it for a little over a year and it might not make it through next Spring/Summer before getting too floppy. No we're definitely not stuck on Mizuno, but her playing outfield more and the club advertising the discount just lead me to checking out the Pro Select. A couple of her buddies have A2000s and she likes those too.

Thanks for the tip on the two-in-pinky. I'm going to pass that along!

Edit to the above: I passed along the two-in-pinky comment to DD and she said "yeah Dad, I've been doing that for years now...my hands are small!"

Couple other suggestions......

Contact Drakemir here on a Vinci BV1929 or a RV1961, for outfield I’d definitely opt for the 1961, both have small hand stalls. The Pro Select is a higher end glove than these Vinci’s though. But the Vinci will save you a little money.

Check out the Don Morton exclusive Rawlings Pro-T in all Horween at Ballgloves.com. This glove is on another level from the gloves mentioned above and the full Trap-web is just special! With the coupon they offer, it’s the same price as that retail Pro Select. It’ll last her till she’s a little old lady!

I'm a big Mizuno fan but their high end softball gloves are lacking. I would look at other brands (Vinci) to find a H web.

The 12.75" Pro Select H-web that I linked is a baseball glove and it's definitely NOT lacking!! I'd bet 90%+ of the Vinci gloves that members here own are baseball gloves, not softball gloves! I'm a Vinci fan, owned a bunch of them but I don't think you'd want to make a head to head comparison with that Pro Select I linked! It's every bit equal to a A2000 or a Heart of the Hide!

I know. The SOFTBALL gloves are lacking. I have a Global Elite and love it, but I would love to see Pro series softball specific gloves.
