After two years my DD ripit helmet needs to be replaced. Two years ago when dads and coaches were ordering new team helmets for her old choppers team we all felt ripit had best batting helmet. Just wanted to see if there is another brand I should consider?

Is there someplace you can go to try them on? We found there was a large difference in how different brands fit. When my daughter made the All-Star team we had to wear a Boombah team helmet which fit her horribly. I had to buy a kit of foam pieces from Amazon and glue pieces in around the helmet to get the fit right.

DD's current team is using the Schutt helmet, but she really liked her Rawlings helmet her old team had last year

I don’t think you can go wrong with Rip-It.

Here are the helmets dd’s have worn best to worst:
1) Rip-It. You can see out of this thing. It will fit all but the smallest kids. It’s comfortable. Grade of A.
2) Schutte. I’m replacing the pads in one right now, today. Their pad kits are good and the person that answered my call at Schutte knew what she was talking about and knew how to resize the helmet via pads that aren’t offered in the model helmet our team uses. Can’t see out of it as well as Rip-It. C+
3) Easton. Heavy. The mask is built like a football helmet. The mask extends way out from the face too far. Can’t see out of it. I hear the new ones are better. I still doubt it’s right. D.
4) Boombah. High school bought them. Total junk. Really pretty. D-

The knock on Rip-It is it costs more. Just pay it. Value and cost are two different things.

Note to manufacturers: make a softball mask. Make the opening between the visor and the mask tight enough to keep an 11” Softball out, not narrow enough to keep a baseball out. It has to be no sturdier than the Rip-It, it doesn’t have to be so thick. Try and remember it’s a softball batting helmet not a football helmet.

The newer Easton Z5 helmet as been decent. My DD prefers the Rip-It, but hasn't had any issues with the Z5.

DD’s complaints are pretty mild about the other helmets- mostly that they notice they don’t see out of them as well and they are heavier. And like military guys say, you don’t notice ounces until you carry those extra ounces all day.

They both say they prefer the Rip-It’s and I really can’t think of any player saying anything different.

I say the one that fits her head best and is the most comfortable. We've had a couple of Rip-it helmets which I thought was really nice, our organization uses Mizuno gear so they ordered all new helmets. To me they looked larger and just felt heavier, Anna said she much preferred the Mizuno over the Rip-it! Shows you what I know:rolleyes:.
