So there is a blue rubber ring, that has "Tru 3" on it, where the handle and barrel connect. The ring itself has ripped. There doesn't appear to be any other part of the bat that is damaged. My husband put some electrical tape on it for the time being to keep it from flapping around. Is this an issue? I can't find any info anywhere (Google has failed me!), even on the Slugger website on whether the ring actually serves a purpose or if it's just a trim piece. Do you think this will affect the bat's performance? Is the tape ok? Or should we send it back under the warranty just to get a new rubber ring? Our fall season is about to start and it's a pretty busy schedule. I hate to have to send the bat back, since I have heard that it takes a long time to get them back.

I think it's just cosmetic at the connection point. DD had it happen to different bats and no problems

We had the exact same thing happen and I didn’t worry about and went through many games until an ump decided it was a modification or damage and wouldn’t let my DD use it in a tournament. The ring is just cosmetic. The good news is sent it back to Louisville and got a brand new bat. They were quick, maybe a week. Sucked to be without the bat but better than wondering if the next ump would throw it out.

Seems like customer service could send you a new bat and return the damaged one in the box? I'd give them a call and
talk to them. Just cosmetic but I'd hate to be caught like CR1 with no warranty.
