My 10 year old dd uses a finch series glove now 11.5” I believe. She likes it because it is so easy to close. Was looking at the all star vela 12” glove. Does the 3 finger stalls make the glove that much easier to close? How about the pocket size vs the finch.
Thanks fellas

The pocket is massive because you don't have a stall for the index finger. That's extra material for the pocket and webbing. It's much easier to close because a closed hand squeezes harder than an open hand. Just like a catcher's mitt. that said the glove this is very stiff and requires break in. I believe it's made of steerhide. It's definitely a great glove to consider. I would suggest an 11.5in. don't take my word order to and return the one you don't want.

So Cal
My DD uses a 12.5" for her fielding glove. The 3-finger design is a good concept, but doesn't quite create the same leverage like you get with a finger-shift in a regular glove. My DD is actually finger-shifting in the Vela glove, stuffing 3 fingers in the pinky/ring stall. That said, the All-Star gloves are well built with good materials. A 12" glove for a 10yo would be a good choice. Expect some break-in time. These things are pretty stiff out of the box.

Dd has the 12 inch basket weave pocket. It looks right at home on her hand pitching. She's 11. Hated giving up her finch but loves
her Vela now. Breaking in she had mixed feelings about the stiff glove but it saved her hand from stings. I used a hot glove kit and have
since switched to a light leather conditioner. Tightened up the laces this spring and it was like new again. Getting a little loose now but I'm
not touching it anytime soon. It performs well and pops better than most the catchers mitts I see. i think the 12 inch was spot on for my
Girl. Pockets huge on the 3 finger. I see some girls throwing gloves around, kicking them and what not. Dd holds hers near her heart!

we own an 11.5" and it's too small for a 12" softball. I'd make a sweet deal on it if you want it as we have barely even started breaking it in. I just have no use for it and would like to go 12 or 12.5"
