The Rawlings balls are rebranded Worth Dream Seam balls. They have a cork core and will break down fairly quickly if used for batting practice, especially if they get put through a pitching machine. They are great for pitching, throwing, and fielding, though. Very easy to grip.

The Dudley Thunder Heat balls have a polymer core and last much longer for batting practice. All balls break down eventually, but these and MacGregor X100 balls seem to last the longest.

I have a bucket of MacGregor's that are 11" balls. They have held up really well for what I paid for them 3 years ago. I figure as DD gets older balls will stop lasting as long and that's fine. I think after this set she will know what she likes better and that will be the route I go. Thank you for the knowledge on the balls!

The next tournament you play in that provides balls, ask the TD if you can buy the used balls at the end. Used to get a bucket full for $1 each.

Yep, that's how we've gotten most of our supply as well....and they are usually in very good shape. Perfect for home practice.
