(First post). Thanks for the wealth of info everyone provides. Here is my question. My 10yu (soon to be 11) DD is starting TB this season. She is moving up to 12u for the first time. She desperately needs a new glove. She typically plays P/2B, but also can play SS, 1B, LF. We are graduating from a cheap Mizuno glove, and from 11” balls to 12” balls. What are the best options? She is fairly avg size, and her current glove is 11.5”. Thanks for the help.

First of all...Welcome to DFP! :)

Lots of options on gloves from almost every brand out there. What's your budget? There are a LOT of people on this site who love Vinci gloves. DFP'er Drakemir is a rep for Vinci and does a great job at finding the right model for the player and your budget. Shoot him a PM and see if something makes sense.

Generally speaking, you're probably going to want a 12"-12.5" glove for your DD. Web type is a personal preference. A lot of pitchers tend to like a solid web.

Thanks for the welcome. We don't have a specific budget, and we want quality, so I will definitely shoot Drakemir a PM. If we buy something through Drakemir, how do we handle the break-in process?

I believe Vinci is offering a partial factory break-in option which will speed up the process. Otherwise, it's no different than the break-in on any other glove. Be warned...the upper-end Vinci gloves will take some serious work to get game ready, as will any well-built glove.

We've had a Mizuno MVP (the all leather one, no fabric) almost 2 years and it's holding up great. She loves it. We used to get the less expensive Mizuno youth gloves but she's basically adult sized now (we're first year 12U). This one came pretty easy to break in. We will get her a really nice, expensive glove after she's through with going through puberty and is the size she's going to stay. The model we got is from 2016 and discontinued, it's the GMVP1175F2 model. I'm sure they have an updated version.

Checked 3 different vendors in my favorites, Don Morton's was the cheapest at $129.94 and has a 10% off coupon and free shipping..........no problem, any time;)

Thank you for the link and suggestion. We have been looking around and she is leaning towards a 2018 A2000 MA14 Superskin 12.25" Thoughts? I think I might be able to convince her to get a Vinci as well. Not sure on benefits/downside to any of the options.

Thanks in advance for any additional information.

I think the MA14 will be a lot of glove for your 10, soon to be 11 year old, and she's using an 11.5" glove right now that she's used to, and probably likes......I think a .5" jump to a 12" glove is probably where she needs to be. But only you two can answer that??

The link to that All-Star glove goes against everything that (I) like in a glove, (an actual fastpitch glove with velcro) but I thought in this case with her age it's a pretty good choice.....but if you're willing to spend that kind of money on an A2000 Super Skin glove which is actually double the price of that All-Star, I'd contact Drakemir and ask about a 12" mesh MEO24-M, their mesh is the equivalent to Wilson's Super Skin. And through Drakemir it'll be a LOT cheaper than that A2000!

My DD started using a custom 12" Vinci her first year of 12U, it was a good fit for her, worked great! Just get ready for her first real glove break-in, cause that Vinci will be stiff, and she won't like it!

My DD is using the 12.5" version of this for her fielder's glove (mostly playing 1B). She likes it a lot. The quality of the leather is very nice (smooth tight grain), and it's well-built. I don't expect it to last forever, but the price is appropriate for the quality and durability.
