DD needs to move up in bat size and wants another Easton. I'm not in a position to spring for a ghost that's only legal in half the games she plays in, so that leaves the other bats in the Easton lineup. I'm sure many will want to jump in with suggestions from other manufacturers, but DD is obsessed with the barrel size on the Easton and likes the feel. Plus the right price for me. She previously swung 2016 Xeno 32/21, and currently swings a 2015 Mako 32/22. We will be looking for either a 33/23 or a 33/24 this time around.

So here's my question. Is there any desirable difference in performance between the Mako, Stealth Flex, and the Retro Stealth?

If no, or not much, then I'm probably just sticking with another Mako. She has swung a team mates Slealth Flex, but we have never come across a Retro Stealth to give it a try.

Also, is there any difference between the 2015 Mako (orange) and the 2016 Mako (blue)?

From watching college ball- the few non-Ghost bats on Easton teams are Makos.

2014 was the best Mako, IMO. The sale prices reflect this too as the 2014 is usually twice as much as the 2015. I haven’t seen a 2015, or 2016 open up like the ‘14. I would rate the original SSR3B above the retro and you can find some of them, although very few, with a USSSA thumbprint stamp. If you can find an FP11ST10 in good shape, it is very close to the SSR3B, which tops my list of all the legal 2 piece Eastons.

I do think the white/light blue Mako was a little better weight wise if that helps.

If you are interested in a 34/24, lmk...I have a lone survivor hanging on I would sell cheap...brand new with full warranty

My DD has a 2016 Mako and a relatively new 2018 ASA Ghost in 33/23. We did a radar & Zepp test a couple weeks ago with those bats and a couple more bats. After a dozen hits, her maximum bat exit speed was 1 mph faster with the Ghost over the Mako. Her maximum Ghost Zepp speed was 1 mph faster too, so it's possible she simply put a better swing on it. Hard to know.

Subjectively, she loves the feel and sound of the ball with a squared up hit on the Ghost probably more than any other bat she owns (although she likes the results of the Quatro Pro...different thread). But she likes the Mako too with a lighter swing weight and larger barrel and this is the bat she used in colder weather games. She has a 2018 33/23 Stealth Flex too that we got for a ridiculously low price (uses this for BP now) and it has a very similar swing weight and feel to the Mako and same barrel size. The ball feels a little softer bouncing off the barrel. She did not test the speed of the Stealth but I did. In my swings, the Stealth was very similar to the Mako (I had one swing with the Stealth come in 2 mph higher but all the others were similar). Granted, I swing 15-20 mph faster than my daughter so it could be different for a slower swing speed.

Short story made long...go with a bat she feels comfortable with.

When Anna first joined the organization she still plays for, I hit a lot of infield and outfield at practice. There was one girl who always kept a 33/23 SRV4B in her bag, this bat looked terrible, like it had been dragged behind a car! I thought that bat was dangerous, just stupid hot. They knew not to make me mad when I was hitting:cool:.

For close to 3 years, I was the only one to ever take that bat out of her bat bag, never saw her swing it once??? It was a log, no idea what it actually weighed?

Sorry, this was for Jdaddy, thought I hit reply with quote:rolleyes:

Thanks for all the replies. They are very helpful. I'm thinking it's best to stick with the Mako since there doesn't seem to be a huge difference in performance.

I noticed a big difference between my DD's Mako and the Ghost. The Mako was a tank, built to last and that's how it performed. If not buying the Ghost, I not buying anything else in the Easton Fastpitch lineup. JMHO
