Just behind home plate
I am a catcher and I am looking for new sunglasses. I had my eyes examined by a local optometrist and found out I'm somewhat nearsighted and needed either glasses or contacts. Because I still wanted to wear sporty style wrap around sunglasses, I wanted contacts. I was wearing my last pair of Panama Jack sunglasses when I damaged them in a play running to third in our game yesterday (we won picking up only our third win of the season).

I would like to know what brand and style of sunglasses your dd are using on the field and what they think of them. I don't want to spend too much on them.

DD was tough on sunglasses and if a pair lasted more than a month we were doing pretty good, therefore she was wore whatever she could find on the $10-15 rack at Walmart.

My 16U DD has started using these sport/biking sunglasses for fastpitch (click link). They have photochromatic lenses that get lighter or darker based on sunlight which works well for her. She is hard on sunglasses too so cost is important. I've used sunglasses like these for years for biking & athletics and am hard on sunglasses too. Nashbar often runs 20%-30% coupons as well. I nag her to keep the glasses in a case when not using...not always successfully :)

I highly recommend Boombah sunglasses. They have the wrap around look but not the Oakley price. They hold up well and have a hard shell case for when they are in your bat bag. The price is low enough that you don't have to fret about them getting broken.

Check out sunglasses at a motorcycle shop. My DD found some there that have foam lining around the outside rim that keep dirt from getting in your eyes. A lot of styles available. She loves them on windy days when the dirt is blowing in.

Make sure the lenses are polarized. I personally think the brown/amber polarized lens is the best for ball recognition. The green ball really pops with that lens. You might want a darker lens if you are playing with the sun in your face. But my guess is, the amber will be all you need when catching.
