DD loves her Rawlings cheapos from Academy. Sporty that have the wrap around look and the stems and pretty flexible. I like the rubber grip insides because they dont fall off her head while running. I think they cost $25. The Vincis look pretty nice, Im just not ready to spend $60 on a pair of sunglasses yet that she might lose.

My DD is a freshman in HS in NJ. Was told that reflective sunglasses are no longer allowed in any position. She had the Oakley Fielders (the slightly orange tint) and the ump told her she couldn’t wear them. I checked the next game with another ump and he said the same thing, but didn’t know what the rationale was for all the positions ban.

My daughter uses Under Armour sunglasses. We bought the warranty from Dick's for $10. We had them replaced and bought another warranty. They said to bring them back next year and get another new pair and buy the warranty again. They will even let you get a different brand when you turn them in for warranty.

Good to know. My daughter has to have prescription but this is useful for me. She got a pair that change tint from normal tint to sunglasses depending on amount of light. They make her look like Rick Vaughn but she loves them and kind of likes being different. Many of our girls wear Oakley's and one kid has a couple pairs with her at all times. I have never heard the no reflective lenses thing.

I also like your daughter have a prescription. I am slightly nearsighted. My eye doctor suggested I should wear glasses or contacts so I now mostly wear contacts. I though do have two pair of sports goggles (one regular and one sunglasses) for sports.

Oakley Quarter Jacket for my 10u and 12u DDs. Replaced scratched lens after 1 year.

What color do you go with? Mine had the baseball prizim (not sure if they were the infield or outfield). I am assuming there isn’t a reliable place to buy them other than direct from Oakley?

I will say, Miken makes a pair that come with 3 sets of lenses and a hard case. Yellow, blue, and regular smoke color. And for the price, we sold a ton of them
because if you bust them or lose them...who cares. Think they are like 20 some bucks.

ShawnC also brought up Rawlings/Worth glasses...I actually wear them because they are a little more stylish and again, cheaper...like 25 bucks.

Bought a couple pair of Rawlings about 4 years ago for both DD's, still have both pair and they still get used although one set is pretty scratched and is only used as back up. Bought a pair of Vinci's about 2 years ago when they were having a sale. The nose pads came unglued almost immediately so they replaced the frame, same thing happened again pretty quickly. Vinci told us it must have been a bad batch? Both of my girls have been pretty responsible caring for and not losing their sunglasses so I am considering getting a decent pair for each of them. The idea of the Dick's replacement warranty is intriguing...might have to look at that. I've seen the Miken glasses online but never tried them in person...

Hey Tatonka...text me and I will send you a pair

Thanks again Core! Time for a quick update on the Miken glasses. Neither one of my DD's liked them due to the fit, they each said the nose area didn't sit very well and they slid down as they moved around while playing. For me (and the DW) they fit well and seemed nice and lightweight with pretty good optics. The 3 different lenses each serves its purpose well and the wrap around style works well for action sports with good peripheral vision. If the fit works for your face/nose size I'd say they are a decent option and would be a good value pair of shades to keep in your bag (and they come with a nice, sturdy case to keep them somewhat protected while in that bag)!
