First of all, I really think there are better glove options than A2000 available. Unfortunately dd really wants an A2000 and her dream school is sponsored by the Evil Empire.

I have poked around the Wilson site. I know we are not ordering “superskin” and I believe we will get the extra stiff leather unless that seems like a bad idea to glove experts here. (We have months to do break in.) We have tried on enough gloves to know she wants 11 3/4”.

So... Looking at the site, the only 11 3/4 fastpitch glove is the FP1175. It has Velcro wrist strap. I think the Velcro is a no-go.

The “baseball” model 1787 has a regular wrist strap and is described as follows: “The A2000 1787 is perfect for dual position players who spend time at SS and 3B. The pocket is a little deeper than the A2000 1786 making it easier to snag line drives while still allowing for the flattened, flared break in that helps with quick transfers.”

She does like her wrist strap tight. Her current glove has Velcro. She takes a new glove out of the box, cranks it tight and it never moves. I think I can recreate that by moving the laces to the tightest position. (Lots of Youtube vids on this).

Anybody have any input on this deal?

Man, I was all fired up with the perfect answer.........until you said 11.75”. What position Westwind? And didn’t we discuss this earlier?;)

I’d seriously take a look at a custom A2000 David Wright DW5 in saddle tan, end of discussion!! I know it’s listed at 12” but it’s a small 12” glove, I’ve never taped one before but it’s definitely closer to 11.75”. I got to handle one along side of my Rawlings Pro1000 which is also a 12” that definitely measures 11.75” and they were really close to each other in size. Of course this is a baseball glove so no velcro, you can adjust the button lap to the Dustin Pedroia style, that’s probably the tightest type wrist closure there is on a BB glove.

My daughter has the 1175 FP with superskin. She's had it right at 3 years now and absolutely loves it. I just cleaned and oiled it last night and am really impressed. Its still like a new glove and has all of its shape. She does take good care of it and always puts her mask inside the glove before putting it away. I personally love A2000's, its what I grew up with.

We talked about the Pro 1000's mostly! She's all over the place, last summer it was all 2b, right now on her hs team she is playing ss but I think this summer we might be looking at some 3b. I'm going over to look at that glove right now!

ETA looks nice. Would you spec the stiffer leather?

Ok, it wasn't that awesome but some good information anyway.

On that pic, some photos with a ball in a glove can be misleading, almost like an illusion......to me that glove looks to be somewhat larger than it is. I remember before I bought my first Pro1000, I researched for photos of that glove with a ball in it, and found plenty. They all looked just like that pic I just posted, roomy and deep. So after I ordered it and it showed up I was surprised at just how small that glove really was. I've read some reviews on the DW5, everyone seems to love the pattern, and everyone says it definitely plays smaller than it's 12" listed size.
