DD is 12, 5' 3", 125 lbs. and will be playing 14u and JV. Would like some feed back on catchers set helmet, chest protector, shin guards. I have been looking at the Easton Prowess P2.
Thanks

I’d be careful buying catchers gear sets. We all start out doing it, but over the years you realize different pieces from different sets work better for your DD. It’s a pain and expensive to figure it out. DD uses Easton chest and shins and I now have to buy an entire set of LS gear just to get the helmet that fits her best. She hated the Mako helmet.

I can give a thumbs up to the Prowess chest protector. DD loves hers. She had the Mako before and it left a little too much of her sternum exposed. The Prowess Is definitely a better fit. DD is a little taller and weighs the same as yours. She uses the 14” Intermediate Chest protector.

Wisdom here. This was my kitchen table the last time DD needed a new set of gear:

We ordered every major set and tried everything on, then picked the best of each. We mostly used Amazon Prime and Dick's in-store pickup, so the only shipping we had to pay was for returns. It's worth it though, to find the right equipment. Catching is hard enough without ill-fitting gear.

Been there, lol! To add, if you order 3-4 sets to find what your DD likes, return them and go online to order specific pieces. There’s always a site or two that seems to be $10-$20 less on certain brands or pieces of catchers gear. With a little work online you can recoup the savings you would get by buying a complete set.

The important thing is fit and comfort. If you can get that all from one manufacturer, that's great, but don't be afraid to mix and match. Since the demise of the Wilson ProMotion gear, the top of my list is All-Star Vela/System 7. My DD would be wearing AS head to toe, but she doesn't like the shape of the AS helmet, so she's currently wearing an Easton M10 with her AS chest and legs.

Just want to echo what everyone else has said. Sets are great if all three parts fit. We really have never found that to be true for my DD. She wears Diamond shins (which she loves), a Boombah chest (more a cosmetic decision but still functional), and a Wilson Pro Motion helmet (completely non-negotionable on my end). She has one "set" like this for school ball and one for travel ball (different colors, $$$).

Since Wilson has discontinued its fastpitch helmet, we will probably try a Force3 mask then next time she is due for a new one.

Easton helmet and shins. Schutt chest protector. The Schutt really balldie, no bounce. DD has a really round head and tried pretty much every brand and model of helmet. Easton was the only one that did not make it feel like her brain was getting squeezed out.

We tried that. DD hated the fit of the Schutt helmet.

every head is different lol......both my #1 travel catcher and middle DD went to the Schutt, fits both well, both love the visibility.......DD had the wilson, travel catch had a diamond.....
