Santa is bringing DD a new catcher's mitt (AS CMW3000) and I would really like to try to get it to hold shape. are the glove wraps sold out there worth it?

I use the Mizuno neoprene wraps. My DD is pretty good (most of the time) about wrapping up her glove/mitt with a ball in it after games and practices.

OK, will get one for her new mitt. do you think they would reshape a out of shape glove? both her other gloves are pretty flattened out.

Just depends on how flattened out they are and the quality of the glove? You could possibly reshape it some by using a ball mallet or dumbbell and then keeping a ball wrapped up in the glove afterwards.....maybe even a re-lace? Wouldn't hurt to try.

I have a nearly 20-year old Rawlings 14” OF glove (slow-pitch). It’s “shape” is nothing like most of the glove-porn that’s shown on DFP. I realized it’s not a matter of reshaping it (you probably don’t need to soften the leather any more if it’s already flat), but tightening the laces.

I did this on the glove mentioned above - just to tighten the top of the fingers, and removed enough slack that I now have probably 2+ inches of lacing flopping off the side of the glove.

It doesn’t look like a new glove, but it’s a lot stiffer along the top, which is what I was hoping for.

Haven’t tried to tighten the laces on my mizuno catchers mitt - I’m drawing a blank in trying to picture the lacing pattern - but I assume there’d be more work involved to get the same results.

My DD has used a Glove Locker every since she bought her first Vinci and we have never looked back. Just make sure you keep a ball in the pocket when you wrap it.

I've found that the markwort piece that goes inside the glove and straps across the back of the glove is easier for my player to keep on the glove all the time. We have some neoprene wraps and they can start to pull the fingers/edges around if you aren't careful. The plastic one can also be heated to form whatever shape you want inside the glove. Pretty inexpensive too.

Both of my daughters have a Webgem Roll for their fielding gloves. - HERE
Works great on keeping the form...but also protects the glove while being shoved in the bottom of their bags.

they are both fairly low end gloves (ie I know the one was bought at Walmart, other might have been Dicks), definitely not worth relacing. she prefers the smaller Mizuno we bought at Walmart like 3-4 years ago. it is pretty floppy. the other is one inch larger, Rawlings, hand me down from older sister, and because it sat in bottom of a bag so long with no ball in it, the pocket has a weird indentation in it from the back side (think it was laying on top of a ball actually). It is also pretty well broke in. This is the one I would really like to "reshape" (just pocket really), trying to get her to switch to it, but she likes "old faithful", even after she has missed one or two line drives with it because ball went "through" the pocket. this DD generally prefers old things to new ones (we have to sneak getting rid of old clothes that no longer really fit).

ordered two of the hot glove wraps on amazon, one will be used for new mitt, one for the one glove I want to move her to (Santa will bring mitt wrapped in the glove wrap, with a note to take very good care of it). gonna clean and condition the glove (I like glovolium because it is spray bottle, easier to control application), put a 12 inch ball in it, wrap it, and leave it like that in her bag (generally never comes out unless someone is missing theirs). Also gonna make certain the mitt gets stored with 12 inch ball in it. Might use wiffles for both to keep weight of her bag down, gonna now have two mitts (if you have aa spare it only does any good if you have it with you) two gloves, two bats, catchers gear, batting helmet, and probably 2-4 partially drank water bottles at all times), and also because I do not have a lot of 12s (only coached 10u and below previously, have two buckets of those :)) will see if I can get the other glove to reshape and get her to use it. If not, I at least will have the glove wrap for when we upgrade her fielding glove.
