Even if it is just for batting practice. If you would, how would you decide on whether a bat is ok, or not?

Sure, most of the time the bat outlasts the kid's need for that size. Look for cracks and rattles. If it has those stay away. Also look at the end cap.

I assume you mean a rattling sound. What should I look for in the end cap?

Brian's right, are you buying it from someone you know, if so what age is the girl who's been using it? I'll buy a used bat in a second, for me it's a ~10 second visual inspection or I'll hit a few balls with it myself, if possible?

Depends what you are planning on doing with it. If its BP...who cares if it has a rattle or click if its cheap. That has no relation to the bat going to break, only that umps may not like it.

Its all in price when you are looking at a used bat. Realize, 99% of the time, no warranty will be with it. Heck, on ebay, many receipts aren't even legit anyway for used bats. And Warranty
isnt transferable, so if push comes to shove, they don't have to warranty it. So when you figure price, figure no warranty and a used bat. That's how you should gauge what your paying.

I would never turn down a used bat, but I wouldn't really buy used from ebay as you cant inspect. Others don't have a problem with it, but that's just me. Its a used, no warranty bat, so
I like to make sure its in decent shape by looking at it in person.

Again, for Bp...you are just looking to make sure there are no cracks or stress marks that can turn into cracks very quickly. If its for game use, then you have much more
to consider when inspecting.

DD is currently using a used composite bat, CF3. Probably her favorite bat was a used CF6 we got from JAD on this board after his DD was nice enough to break it in for her. Both bats look like hell, no amount of magic eraser will clean them up. Her brand new LTXs look a lot prettier because they are not used.

From a used sporting goods store. All I will have is the inspection. I think I will have 3 days to return used equipment, so I will check it out fast.

I have a gently/hardly used CF6 32"-10 in the garage gathering dust. $75. DD used it in a few games until the LXT purchase. I had a real bad case of (GAS)Gear Acquisition Syndrome that year.
