The Pro Selects are a new model/series, I haven't had one in my hands but several of the serious glove guys over at SoftballFans have and they say the leather is fantastic, a big step above the Global Elite series! If your DD has small hands and skinny fingers, contact Drakemir and order a 12.75" Vinci RV1961. You won't find a better outfield pattern to fit a female hand, very snug hand and finger stalls!

Difference between those two All-Stars......the 3000 uses Japanese tanned Maruhashi leather, it has a single break heel for great thumb protection and I guess it's safe to say it's All-Star's flagship fastpitch mitt!

The 4000 is a dual break heel, it's a little smaller than the 3000, and the All-Star site says it made from cowhide! It's definitely not an entry level mitt, All-Star has a few that are below the 4000 in price and quality. It's a really good mitt!

I love my CMW3000, it will take some real work for her to break it in, but if she's playing a heavy schedule of travel ball with some pitchers who can bring it, get the CMW3000!

I will definitely look into that Vinci! Sounds like a good fit! DD has been playing with the CMW4000 for a couple years and loves it - she has been catching a pitcher lately who can bring some heat and says she has felt her thumb take a hit a couple times recently - that's why we were thinking about a new catchers mitt...hmmm - she loves the size of the 4000 though.

I've had a 4000 in my hands once, from what I remember there's not a ton of size difference between the two, but they are both shaped differently. The single break heel of the 3000 will take care of that thumb issue!

I'm using an All-Star CMW3000 to catch my DD weekly. She occasionally hits 60 but moves the ball with a lot of late sharp break. That mitt works great and has great thumb protection which is the most important thing to me.

Good to hear. Not finding many deals on fastpitch catchers gloves so far. $145 for a 34" Rawlings Liberty Advanced is about the only sale on a catchers glove I am seeing that has any quality to it.

Hmmm...My recollection is that the 4000 was definitely smaller than the 3000, but that may be somewhat amplified by the difference in shape and break locations. The 3000 is a great mitt, no doubt. However, if someone is citing a need for more hand protection I tend to also suggest Vinci.

The only 4000 I’ve ever held was very very broken in, while my 3000 was brand new at the time, size wise they seemed pretty close to me, the 3000 was thicker all around. The shape and break difference was very noticeable right away.

My JCV-22 definitely has a thicker palm pad but my CMW3000 has better thumb protection!

Baseballmonkey.com does have the All Star CMW3000 for $114.99 (plus an extra % off for BF) - unfortunately for DD not for a lefty.i
