I know ShawnC has already gotten his DD a sweet Rawlings glove but I thought I'd ask what you guys thought about the Mizuno Global Elite series? Currently advertised at $89 ($250 MSRP)...does this glove fall in between the old floppy Mizuno Classics and the Pro Select series? At that price point it would seem to be a decent value for some folks here if the glove itself holds up for more than a season or three?

Tatonka, I'm definitely not a Mizuno expert, I know Rawlings and Vinci's much better. What size glove are you looking for to buy your DD, what is her primary position? The reason I ask is I got the email from JBG's today and they are running a big sale on Global Elites.

Earlier I sent a email to a big Mizuno guy I know asking about the 12" Global Elite GGE11 and what's really the difference in the VOP GGE11V leather and the regular GGE11, basically which one is actually a better glove? The guy who's done some re-lacing for me told me that with the Global Elite models, that's where Mizuno really starts to step up with much better internals! Anna's played with a couple of girls who used the GE, they're a huge step up over the classic all the way around!

For $89 or $99, buy with confidence cause that's a smoking deal, buy two! A couple of guys over at SoftballFans.com have done some reviews on the Pro Select, GLOWING reviews!! They're saying it's easily comparable to a Heart of the Hide and a A2000, maybe stiffer! I haven't heard if the GE is being phased out or not, but it sorta looks like the Pro Select is taking it's place since everybody has the GE on massive blowout.

Is the $89 Global Elite you're looking at a 12.75" mod-trap glove at Softball.com? If so it's a great deal!

Yep, that's the deal from Softball.com for that Global Elite. Haven't ordered because it just doesn't look like the same quality glove (or even close) as the VOP series. Wish I could put my hands on one first. After knowing first hand the quality and fit that comes with Vinci and having looked at the Rawlings HOH and Pro Preferred gloves it's hard to back down the ladder.

Those prices seem really good. Some of the sites are showing these as baseball gloves - I assume these are not right for fastpitch. One of the others is showing a 13" at that price. My daughter is a first year 16U, 5'2" outfielder (doesn't play infield), small hands (maybe 6.5" from palm to tip of middle finger). Would 13" be too big for her? I'm trying to get her to give up her floppy 12U glove.

Yeah dkame, the one's I was referring to are baseball gloves, but BB gloves are all I ever look at. I hate velcro! Sounds like your DD needs a Vinci BV1929 or a RV1961, both have really snug hand and finger stalls, and both are baseball gloves:cool:

FYI - Rawlings is having a heckuva Valentines Day sale on many of their gloves. Most Liberty Advanced are 30% off today.

Still gotta give Drakemir and Vinci the vote for quality and value though!

If she is going to just play outfield - then a 13" glove is fine - or even the RV1961 is a 12.75. Great tight finger stalls for smaller hands - Will last her to college and beyond without giving up its shape. and I hear you can get quite the deal on them here if you know the right guy to talk too ;)
