What bat(s) to purchase for the team?

Looking to purchase two "team" bats for the upcoming season.

This is for a high school team. Most girls have their own bats but to be honest we have some girls that just can not afford it. The athletic director has agreed to purchase two bats for this season. So the question is: What is a good "universal" bat? I know that there is a lot of personal preference in purchasing a bat. What I am looking for is the best option to fit the most players.

That for sure is a loaded question but I thought I would throw it out there and see if I could get some ideas.

I think most people purchase bats from CoreSoftball20, might be worth a message to him to see what he has laying around.

IMO a good combination would be a 33/23 DeMarini and Xeno, previous years models. Even though they are both 33/23 they will swing different.

(Justbats has bat pack combinations that change from time to time, I took a quick look and did see any I like but they do change occasionally)

I think the Xeno is a very well rounded bat performance and durability wise, millions sold can't be wrong....right? I really want to get my DD a Ghost soon but I saw two break this weekend, one was just bought, had less than 10 swings on it from a 110lb. slapper! I think the main issue for a team bat would be durability, something like the older 2015 white & orange Mako. I'm sure they had their share of broken Mako's but I just never saw any. Whatever bat the AD decides on, it'll have a warranty.

I think one of the Demarini balanced -10s would be a good choice - but that is just going off what I see on DD's team.
DD swings an LXT - she does not like the swing of the Xeno at all - but I would say that after the Demarini CF8/CF9, the Xeno is the most popular bat at DD's age group. (14U) and as ANNASDAD said "millions sold can't be wrong". :)

For a team bat I would check with Coresoftball20 and check Ebay for a sale on last years model. Play-It-Again sports is also a good place to check.

If you buy discounted models from the previous year, you might be able to get a third bat.

If your AD said "two bats" and didn't give budget, get the two best/most expensive ones you can. :)

I would also ask the team if anyone has any bats they would be willing to let the team use. My DD always had 2-3 extras at home that we would have been glad to donate.

All the bats mentioned would work, all are very good. True balanced bats like Demarini and LXT might be more forgiving for a wider variety hitters than anything with even a hint of end load.

Annasdad- Another coach told me that they had returned some Ghosts, I was pretty surprised at that. DD’s team had several kids using them pretty early after release and I have not seen a single problem. This group is 16’s and hit the ball hard. I know it isn’t recommended but dd hits all her practice and games with one bat. That includes machine. Hers still seems darn hot even with a bunch of hits on it- (I just replaced her grip because she wore it ragged). I just can’t wrap my head around players having problems with these bats after all the abuse I have seen them take.

I’ll probably buy a “game only” bat from Core beginning of spring but not really sure we need to.

See, it's exactly opposite here. We played this past weekend in Myrtle Beach and the girls actually had their bats lined up along the dugout fence, 9 Louisville Sluggers (both LXT & Xeno), 2 Demarini's (CFX & CF5), and 1 Easton (Ghost). We're 16U.

That's good to hear Westwind, cause I really do want my DD to try one! She's a die hard LXT girl and a lot of times trying to switch a girl over to Easton from another brand just don't work. I bought her a 2015 Mako that I found cheap, she wouldn't even look at it! I used it for infield & outfield practice and I thought it was hot as a firecracker......what do I know? Anyone need a 32/22 Mako with only old man dad swings on it?
