DD2 (2007) recently got glasses, insurance pays for one set per year (frames and glasses). First set of course were fashionable. looking to pay out of pocket for pair for sports, ie sports goggles, whatever you want to call them. need something she can wear under batting helmet and catchers mask.

any suggestions on good online (already have the Rx) outlets to get them?

Like others, we headed straight to Wal-Mart to get sports glasses for both our kids. DD normally wears contacts but when it's dry and windy, those sports glasses have been extremely important. She catches with hers (no worries because her helmet NEVER comes off until she's back in the dugout) and wears her batting helmet with them. No problems. Same with my boy. Make sure you take your prescription with you from your regular eye doctor or they will try to make you see one of their doctors.

A little expensive but you can always buy a pair of Oakley Commit sunglasses and have the lenses replaced with prescription lenses. Nike also makes a pair of frames, NK 7070, that you can get for $120 and again add prescription lenses. You don't have peripheral vision problems with these. The sports goggles I've seen can be hard to out the sides.

as for contacts, I think 10 is a little too young for them, and she has some sensory issues as well (ie certain clothes "feeling right"), so not really an option. she is a catcher, so important that they work with the helmet.

thanks for the advice so far, will try to get to a Walmart with vision center this weekend (ours does not have one), see if she likes any of the options.

DD's eye doctor wanted to get her in contacts pretty young due to some bad vision issues that she has. We tried at 10, but it was too much of a pain for us and she hated it. By the time she was 12 she was ready to go for it and has done great with them ever since.
