Been stuck at work so haven't been able to thoroughly check the bat. Assuming I'd have to buy a new bat, does anyone know if it's a big deal going from a drop 10 to a drop 8. Saw a 2016 Xeno on sale but it's 2 ounces heavier than the one Dd swings now. Do those 2 ounces really make that much a difference?

Yes. I'd make that switch over the winter, when you have lots of time for cage work.

Yes, 2 ounces is a big difference. Unless my DD was exceptionally powerful, I wouldn't even consider a -8. It's on sale because there aren't VERY few players that can use that bat effectively.

Right Here For Now
Although I agree with Eric F that it's a big difference, what some people may forget is that adding an inch of length and an ounce of weight usually has the same effect on swing speed as adding 2 ounces overall. That said, it's not always true depending upon the player. If the length is the same and your DD is a strong girl for her size, then personally, I wouldn't hesitate on buying the bat. However, if it's an inch longer and 2 ounces heavier, as others have suggested, I'd wait to introduce the new bat until the off-season where she can get used to the difference in weight and work on her timing as well as strength to swing it effectively.

Hmmm....interesting. DD is a strong kid. She swings the same length bat now but I'm glad I asked on here before I pulled the trigger on it. Maybe I'll see if we can swing one over the winter. For now, I'll see what I can do about this bat she loves so much

A -8 is on sale for a reason, they appeal to @ 3% of softball players. Stick with a -10.

OK, I know I'm going to get hammered for this...

The 2013 Xeno is what all 3 of my DDs swing regularly...but somehow the 2018 Easton Ghost made it in there too...:D

All 3 DDs are using 34" bats now.

I have a used White/Blue 2013 Xeno 33/23, and a new in wrapper 33/24 I'd sell.

The reason I posted this in an open thread, versus sending you a message, is so you know I'm not trying to scam ya.

But ya, that bat you have is toast.

PM me if interested.

There is def a crack in there and also composite damage. Gotta look hard but its there. It should not be allowed by an ump but heck, depends what
kind of ump you have...haha

Take a heavy coin, not a quarter but something heavier. Tap it on a good part of the bat that you know is solid. Then tap on and around the cracks. Big noise difference means troubles.

Id say Its time for that bat to head out to pasture or at the very least become a decoration. We dont throw bats away In our house, our daughter decorates her room with them. lol But yeah, Im actually surprised any umpire would allow that In a game. At least you know your DD got your moneys worth out of It.

As far as going to a -8, unless you daughter resembles Abbey Cheek I wouldn't do It. Very few FP players swing a -8, Its definitely a niche bat made for the strongest of players. Swinging a bat that heavy Is bound to cause problems In her swing.

Im In a debate with myself right now just to move my daughter from a 28/17 LXT to a 30/20. Shes definitely outgrown her 28/17, and Is swinging a 29/18 cheap aluminum bat right now, Im not sure If she can handle the 30/20 yet, but I dont want to drop a lot of money on a bat that she will outgrow before next Fall. She has grown 3 inches since I bought her the LXT, not sure how much weight she has put on but shes very fit, not a lot of extra weight on her frame. I wonder If Im not better off buying one of the 30/20 composite bats from last years line up to save money and just let her grow Into It In the worse case scenario. I like the LXT, but Im not a huge fan of the sound It makes anymore.
