Anyone know about the Mizuno MVP Prime glove?

Thanks everyone! I think I'm going with the MVP. The Prospect is brand new (she killed the last one just before her first fall game and I knew I could get it game-ready in 24-48 hours) so if Santa brings DD a new MVP I should be able to have it ready by spring.

If Santa brings your DD a new MVP, you could have it ready by New Year's Eve, if you really wanted to. Then again, my approach to breaking in gloves tends to be pretty aggressive.

:) Her league's tryouts are in mid-January so I'll have a couple weeks.

both DD's used them - eldest used to go through a couple a year - moved on to Vinci as she got more serious

younger is now a catcher, but still has a floppy MVP in her bag as well

Man, I need to get in on your approach. It seems to take me forever to get a glove into game shape, then a few more times to get it truly broken in.

I got my DD's new All-Star glove ready for practice in less than a week. It's been another week, and she will use it this weekend for games. It's coming along nicely.

My goal is to soften up the entire palm area. I pound it with a mallet, stretch it, turn it inside-out, and do a lot of "shoe-shine" movement. A big part of my process it to sit on it. Fold it, sit on it for a while, fold it again in a slightly different place, and sit on it some more, repeat, repeat... With the pounding, it's similar - fold, pound, fold again, pound...working across the heel, the base of the web, and the top of the web. I also pound a ball into the pocket with a bat. Hard, and a lot. Between beatings, it gets wrapped with a Mizuno glove wrap (or stuffed between couch cushions) with a ball in the pocket.

A friend told me recently that he breaks in gloves with a process that includes parking his car on it. He did it recently with an A2000. I just stared at him in horror as he described the process.

I think it took maybe a week for DD to be 100% comfortable with hers. It definitely comes to you stiffer than the Prospect (which has a lot of fabric on it) but hers did break in very quickly.
