I spoke with a Mizuno rep this week about their "new" bats. He informed me that they just signed a deal to supply bats for Mizzou and they already had deals with UGA and some other programs (possible JMU?). Has anybody heard this? Is Mizuno making a real push into the market?

Its gonna be tough. They took themselves out of the bat market years ago by their strategy and not keeping up. They really are going to have
to change a lot and also change perception of their product. Mizuno was the bottom of the barrel bat you bought if you wanted a beater
or didn't want to spend much money. You not only have to build image/product back up, but hopes the value goes up as well.
The problem for Mizuno and even Easton slowpitch right now it value. Hard to sell bats for any kind or price when people know a couple
months after release people will be ditching stuff for half price just to sell it. So many people just waited a short time.

Lots of things to change for Mizuno, but getting a couple colleges on your bat line is a good start

Mizuno was the UGA supplier last year. My oldest has a UGA verbal on her team and she got a Mizuno bat this past spring as she wants to use what they use. Not a bad bat, didn't break after 75+ games. She hit just like she had been hitting.

I will say, Mizuno made some dang fine golf clubs in late 90s, early 2000s (and still do today). I used to play those Mizuno blades...it was like being on crack when you hit it on the sweet spot, which for me was not enough to make a living. Dang fine irons....

Mizuno forged irons are as good as it gets! I've gone through many drivers, fairway woods, and putters but my MP-52 irons will always be in my bag. junkball, they're not a true blade, the MP-52's are a muscle back but still pretty thin, great set of irons. Like you said, nothing like hitting a pure shot with a forged iron!

Last season our senior catcher used a Mizuno Nighthawk bat that worked great for her. We had a home run derby fundraiser last year and she won it, she hit 10 or 11 HR's in her two sessions. My sophomore 5'0" 115 lb. DD hit 8 out using a LXT, I made her walk home!

I wasn't that impressed with them when the team demoed them and there were only a couple of girls who liked them.

As shallow as it seems, I think they will have a hard time selling them with the current paint scheme unless they outperform everything else. The first thing people notice is what the bat looks like and the girls all thought they were ugly before they even picked them up.

Picked up a 2016 Nighthawk 33/23 on eBay last year for $55. DD used it freshman JV ball then last year 14u. Hit a couple of long hr in JV then led 14u in avg. Using over CF5. Says she likes way ball comes off without the “fake ting” sound some of the high priced bats have. Bat has more of a “thud” sound. DD likes that she outhit all of her teammates and their $300+ bats as do I. Rarely do we see anyone else using one in a game. Considering picking up another in the 33/24 size.

So Cal
DD has a teammate using a Miz Ghost. She hits pretty well with it. My eyeball calibration tells me it's in the same hotness range as the usual suspects.

How does Mizuno really compare to the big names? The market is dominated by demarini and Louisville. My DD has a rawlings that was really nice at first but now it's a different story. At least to me it is. Anyone have compression results on these bats?I know that is not that is not the end all but it's a great start lol.
