DD2 has tryout tonite, and after last practice a few days ago, left her bag in back of DS's truck (DS drove her to practice). of course it rained, and then it sat, most stuff just damp, except catcher's mitt. this was at bottom of bag, and sat in water it seems. pretty waterlogged.

any suggestions to safely dry this out relatively quickly (ie couple of hours), caveat is that DS or DD2 (10) must be able to carry out the procedure.

first thought was oven, junked that quickly. latest thought is put it in pillow case, throw in dryer on low or medium heat for half hour, repeat as needed. thoughts?

not a great mitt, mizuno prospect, but she needs it for tonight, and she likes it.

Put it in the oven around 150 or 175. She will be good to go no worries at all. Tomorrow brush it off and hit it with Lexol conditioner. I've had it happen more times that I caount on fingers and toes

wont rubbing oil on it trap the moisture? that is why I have not put any conditioner on it while it was still wet. plan to do so once dry.

I tried dryer first on med then high heat (mitt inside pillow case tied shut so as to keep mitt open, about 30 minutes each time, seemed lighter, but still very heavy. will try again when dryer available again (pesky laundry) for another cycle. want to space them out to give mitt some time in between to breathe.

thanks for the help (tryout went pretty well, she did suit up, just user her glove when catching).
