Looking for place to break in mitts

Have you considered just playing catch with it? No better way to break in a glove than to use it everyday practicing throwing and catching and occassionally throw some glove conditioner on it and wrap it with a thick rubber band or sleeve when not in use. Works every time
Moderate heat does not hurt leather in any way. Leaving it in the hottest car does nothing to a glove or the leather interior. Leather upholsterers use a 1500 watt heat gun (500+ F) on it regularly. Welding and blacksmith gloves are leather. Over oiling, reps, Dirt and grime do far more damage. Laces are always forgotten when conditioning leather that why they break especially on cheap gloves that use split leather or don't use 1/4" laces. Use Lexol twice a year in the pocket side and the glove back once a year. Take time to brush it with a stiff brush to clean it out before applying conditioner.
A sneaky trick to stretch it out a bit is to use rubbing alcohol. Spray it on and work the leather hard. Especially in the hinge

I used Dicks Sporting Goods (online for best selection) they steamed and beat with a mallet on 3 separate occasions

I agree, it worked great for us. One treatment from Dick's on my DD's new catcher's mitt and a couple of days of practice with it, it was game ready.
My garage has been my go to place for breaking in gloves, then I move to the street to play catch and lastly DD takes it to the field.
Leave the car unlocked and let me know where you parked as well.
I don't think any of my gloves or my DD's are worth stealing.
